Overview

Our Behaviours of Respect, Integrity and Flexibility are the foundation for driving positive change in our workplace. They support everything we do and over time will help us create a workplace that:

  • is open, positive, inclusive and safe for all
  • supports and allows everyone to be their best self and do their best work
  • celebrates the benefits of our diversity (because each of us are different)
  • allows everyone to feel trusted, valued and recognised for their contribution.

Give us your views

To help us get a better sense for how things are as a colleague and your experiences of Our Behaviours, we need to hear from as many of you as possible.

By telling us about your experience you’ll help us understand what it’s like to be a Council colleague, see what’s working well and identify any areas that may need help to improve. Using your feedback, we’ll further develop our People Strategy and our work with service areas to embed Our Behaviours in all we do.

You can find out more about Our Behaviours on the Orb or on our Work for us pages.

Your responses will be completely anonymous unless you choose to leave your details for a response.

Thank you in advance for your support.

If you need support

If you’ve been affected by any unacceptable behaviours and feel you need support, please speak to your manager or another colleague if you feel comfortable to do so. You can also access our Employee Assistance Programme (EAP) PAM Assist anytime, 24/7 on 0800 882 4102 or visit their website.

Reporting unacceptable behaviour

If you witness, experience or have concerns about unacceptable behaviour you should,

  • in the first instance, speak to your line manager or another manager you feel safe confiding in
  • reach out to one of our Speak up Supporters
  • look at our policies on the Conduct section on the Orb, or on the Council website
  • raise a query through askHR online, or by calling 0131 469 5555.

We’ll always aim to resolve any concerns about unacceptable behaviour as early as possible by using our existing conduct policies. However, if you’ve exhausted this process or feel your concern does not fall under one of these policies, you can email our Whistleblowing team whistleblowing@edinburgh.gov.uk or contact our independent Whistleblowing hotline with Safecall on 0800 58 78 770, by email at cec@safecall.co.uk or using their online form.
