Edinburgh and the Lothians British Sign Language Plans
Overview
Public bodies in Scotland need to develop British Sign Language (BSL) plans. These need to mirror the principles of the national plan which was published in October by the Scottish Government.
Public bodies in Edinburgh and the Lothians are working together to engage BSL speakers, and communities including BSL/English Interpreters and parents/carers of Deaf children, in a straightforward way.
Register your interest for our upcoming Engagement Event
To start a conversation with BSL speakers about improving access to services for those using the language, and raising awareness of BSL, an event is planned for Saturday 24th February 2018, 11am until 3pm in The Outreach Centre (next to Levels Cafe), 9C Holyrood Road, University of Edinburgh, EH8 8FP
(***Please note this is a change of venue***)

This event will cover all the goals of the national plan, from early years and education to improving democracy, from health services to policing, and much more besides.
You can come for as long as you like, and meet various responsible officers, to tell them what you think needs done to progress the goals of the National Plan in Lothian.
If you are interested in influencing the local plans, please save the date and register your interest below. We will keep you up to date and provide further details as they are confirmed.
