Gaelic hub for Edinburgh
Overview
This survey aims to explore the possibility of establishing a Gaelic ‘hub’ for Edinburgh – a social and cultural space where Gaelic speakers and learners in Edinburgh could come together for different kinds of Gaelic activities and events.
This survey is being conducted by Ionad Gàidhlig Dhùn Èideann, a charitable organisation that is working to develop a Gaelic hub and to promote Gaelic in Edinburgh.
We want to assess potential demand for a hub and find out what people might like to see offered in a hub. What things should be prioritised to make the hub useful and attractive?
This is an initial exploratory survey to assess the community’s general views and desires. There will be many important practical questions further ahead, especially concerning funding and a possible location, but we are not at that stage yet.
This survey is open to anyone aged 16 and over. It is primarily intended for Edinburgh residents but others are welcome to complete it. If you would like to respond on behalf of an organisation or group please contact ionaddhuneideann@gmail.com.
