The City of Edinburgh Council's Community Wealth Building Plan
Overview
The City of Edinburgh Council is developing its approach to Community Wealth Building (CWB). This is a form of economic development that aims to build a fairer and stronger local economy that works for everyone. It does so by supporting the creation and retention of wealth in local economies, and by giving local people more control over that wealth.
The Council is currently developing a plan to set out its priority Community Wealth Building actions. As part of this process, we would like to engage with other partners and organisations in the city to understand:
- How can we use Community Wealth Building to support Edinburgh?
- What Community Wealth Building opportunities exist?
- What is the Council’s role in supporting a Community Wealth Building movement in Edinburgh?
We are running several events to gather views from a broad range of organisations on our Community Wealth Building approach. The details of these are listed below, alongside the Eventbrite link for booking.
We will also be running a survey to gather feedback, and further details of this will be published on this page.
What happens next
Consultation and engagement activities will be running throughout the summer period in 2025. Once these are finished, we will publish a summary the findings of this process on this page. This will inform the Council's Community Wealth Building approach moving forward.
