Overview

Later this year the Council plans to submit a planning application for a new Queensferry High School.  The new school would be built on the current school’s playing fields and, following completion of the new school, the old school would be demolished with the area landscaped and a new pitch created on the site.

In addition, a separate planning application will be submitted shortly to create a 3G pitch alongside the Queensferry Sports and Community Hub to ensure that pupils can continue to have access to outdoor sports facilities during the construction period.  This all-weather pitch would also be available for local access outside school hours.

Recognising how close the school is to the Forth Bridge World Heritage Site, initial designs show how  our architects have sympathetically designed the school to fit in to its surroundings.  This includes maximising views from the school across to the Forth Bridge and choosing external finishes that complement the location.

Why your views matter

The consultation has now closed.  Thank you to everyone who took the time to comment on the designs for our new high school.

What happens next

We will consider and reflect on all the comments received during the pre-planning consultation.  This will help us to develop the final designs for the new school and a planning application will be submitted in September 2017.   During the planning process there will be a further opportunity to comment formally to Planning via the planning portal on the Council’s website.
