Physical Activity and Sport Strategy 2019-23

Closed 1 Feb 2019

Opened 7 Jan 2019

Overview

It was agreed on June 19, 2018 at the Culture and Communities Committee to produce a new Physical Activity and Sport Strategy for the period 2019-2023.

Why your views matter

The new strategy shall set out our ambitions and highlight the key areas for improvement.

In order we engage in change, bring a sense of a collective ownership and a collegiate approach to the setting of a new strategy we are holding a series of consultations in Edinburgh with key partners such as the university sector, national governing bodies, independent schools, sports clubs and other community organisations. This face to face engagement commenced in November 2018 and shall conclude in mid February.

The online consultation is intended to complement these sessions and shall run through to 01 February 2019.

What happens next

The feedback we received through our consultation was presented to the Culture and Communities Committee on 26 March 2019 and the Physical Activity and Sport Strategy: An Interim Progress Report was approved.

We have therefore completed phase one. The task ahead through the possible creation of short life sub groups/think tanks is how best we introduce change and deliver improvement. The end product of our work over the next few months shall be to produce a first year action plan for approval by committee in late 2019.

We are now looking to focus on key areas that we, the public, our partners and elected members think need further attention/improvement.
