New Maybury Primary School and Health Centre
Overview
We are looking for your views on design proposals for the new Maybury Primary School and Health Centre. This new building will be located within the West Craigs development near the airport in West Edinburgh.
Why your views matter
Initial design proposals for the new Maybury Primary School and Health Centre have been developed and we now wish to obtain the views of local residents and surrounding communities in line with the requirements of the Planning (Scotland) Act 2006.
All of the feedback raised during the consultation period will be considered and reviewed by the project team. This will help inform further development of the design, prior to submitting a full planning application.
Proposal Detail
- The school site is located in between the proposed ‘Civic Gateway’ and an area of community open green space. The site makes the most of the local public transport links and the school will be constructed to the ultra-low energy Passivhaus standard.
- The Primary School is to be constructed in two phases, initially providing accommodation for up to 420 pupils (14 classes), with Phase 2 extending provision to 630 pupils (21 classes).
- The building also includes a 128-place nursery which will be delivered in Phase 1.
- A Health Centre accommodating a new GP Practice and community services delivered by the Edinburgh Health & Social Care Partnership will also be delivered in Phase 1. This will provide healthcare facilities for up to 10,000 patients from the surrounding communities
- The building will welcome community use with halls, activity studio and a sports pitch.
