Coillesdene Area Traffic Calming
Results updated 6 Feb 2024
Thanks to those who took part in our survey on trial traffic measures in the Brunstane Road and Coillesdene area
We introduced an Experimental Traffic Regulation Order in Feb 2022. We are now seeking further approval for the project to be introduced permanently and will be reporting comments, support and objections from the permanent Traffic Regulation Order and Redetermination Order advertisements to the Licensing Sub-Committee in Spring 2024. Keep checking here for updates.
Overview
A traffic management trial was implemented by the City of Edinburgh Council in February 2022 in the Brunstane Road and Coillesdene area through an Experimental Traffic Regulation Order. The trial includes the closure of Brunstane Road at the railway bridge in conjunction with measures at various locations in the Coillesdene area to reduce unnecessary through traffic.
The trial was introduced because residents on Brunstane Road, between Milton Road and the railway bridge, have experienced long-standing traffic problems. Council’s Transport and Environment Committee agreed in January 2021 that the trial scheme could be progressed and in December 2021 the decision was made to implement the trial using an Experimental Traffic Regulation Order (ETRO).
