The area includes the buildings between Princes Street and Rose Street, as well as Princes Street's carriageway, pavements and nearby public spaces.

The Waverley Valley is the open landscape which runs between the Old and New Towns of Edinburgh, and includes Princes Street Gardens, and Waverley Station.
