Pennywell / Muirhouse Civic Centre
Overview
The Council are currently looking at redevelopment of the Muirhouse Shopping Centre and surrounding area, proposals to transform this area include new energy efficient homes, shops, new office space for co-location of services and high quality public realm. Following consultation, it is anticipated that this project would be delivered in a phased manner over the next four years, creating a much needed new ‘civic heart’ within this neighbourhood.
The redevelopment of the civic centre would complete the regeneration of this area; together with over 700 new homes currently being delivered through the Council’s 21C Homes Programme in the surrounding area and the NHS led partnership centre that is being constructed behind the new Craigroyston Community High school.
Why your views matter
To ensure we provide a public space that meets the needs of the wider community, we need to gather the views of people that live in, visit or work in the area.
These views will help us refine future plans for the detail of the design of what will make up the space.
Although any comments made to this consultation process may be selected to form part of a future planning application submission document, they will not be considered by City of Edinburgh Council as a formal representation to any future planning application. All members of the public and local stakeholders will have the opportunity to make formal representation to the Council once a planning application has been submitted.
If you have any questions in relation to the regeneration or would like any additional information, please contact Michelle Fraser on 0131 529 3150 or email michelle.fraser@edinburgh.gov.uk
