Taxi Fare Review 2020

Overview

The City of Edinburgh Council reviews taxi fares every 18 months and must consult on any proposals to change the taxi fare tariff.

The suggested new taxi tariff includes the following changes:

• an increase of 40p on the initial charge (all tariffs)
• an additional increase of 3.3% on increments thereafter (Tariffs 1 & 2)
• the 'additional passenger charge' to increase to 30p

In addition the wording relating to 'soiling' and the Christmas and New Year periods has been amended for clarification, and the charges relating to the airport have been updated.

Why your views matter

The Council must consult on proposals to change the taxi fare tariff, so that a new fare table can come into effect on 7 April 2020.
