We asked

This consultation sought responses on a number of policy options contained within the draft Supplementary Guidance.

You said

Responses in general showed broad support for the preferred policy options on the basis that greater flexibility will enhance and maintain vitality, viability and occupancy rates. However, a number of concerns were also raised which the finalised version of the Supplementary Guidance seeks to address.

We did

The consultation responses have been fed into a finalised Bruntsfield/Morningside Town Centre Supplementary Guidance which was approved at Planning Committee on 19 May 2016.

Overview

The Council is responsible for managing the mix of shops, cafes, restaurants, pubs and other uses in its town centres.  We are preparing new supplementary guidance for Bruntsfield/Morningside.  This will set out where uses can change and how we plan for a mix of uses to support town centres as places to shop, visit, live and work.

Why your views matter

We are seeking the views of all those who shop, visit, live and work in the Bruntsfield/Morningside town centre.  We are looking for your input on the mix of uses in this town centre to help us plan where shops could change to other uses and where we should protect certain uses.  We’d also like your views on opportunities for change in the town centre.

It is advised that you first read the full PDF or epub version (for Ipads) of the draft guidance before completing the survey.  The survey includes short extracts from the draft guidance with one or two questions per page.
