Overview

Granton Waterfront has a fascinating history and heritage. It is home to a number of valuable heritage artefacts, buildings and places and has been an important centre for the maritime, manufacturing and energy industries. 

There are distinctive historic buildings and heritage landscapes across the area that we want to preserve, restore and refurbish for the local community – and further afield - to enjoy.

In May 2023, the Council received funding from the National Lottery Heritage Fund and Historic Environment Scotland to develop plans for the repair and restoration of four key historic buildings and structures in Granton Waterfront. We need your views to help shape proposals and plans for:

  • Granton Lighthouse;
  • the Granton Station Square platforms;
  • Madelvic House; and
  • Granton Castle Walled Garden.

We will be making a full application in autumn 2024 for further funding to deliver the projects and heritage activities over the next 5 years.

    Join us at Granton Station on Saturday 4th May from 11am - 2pm to share your views on heritage in person. You'll meet with members of the Granton Waterfront team and the architects who have been working with us to develop the proposals.
