Statutory Consultation Proposing a Replacement St Catherine's RC Primary School
Overview
We want to hear your views on plans to establish a new 11 class primary school and nursery on the South Neighbourhood Office site on Captain’s Road, replacing the existing St Catherine's Roman Catholic primary school.
Investigations in the summer of 2018 considering how best to upgrade St Catherine’s RC primary school concluded that the building needed to be replaced rather than upgraded.
Relocating a school means we have a legal obligation to carry out a statutory consultation under the Schools (Consultation) (Scotland) Act 2010 as amended by the Children and Young people (Scotland) Act 2014.
The plans and supporting information can be found in the 'Related' section below.
Why your views matter
We invite comment and seek feedback from all those interested in and affected by this project.
In addition, we will aim to reach a wider audience through a public meeting where anyone can attend. This meeting will be held at St Catherine's RC Primary School between 6.30pm and 8.30pm on Thursday 12th October.
You can also e-mail responses to newstcatherines@edinburgh.gov.uk
All comments made during the statutory consultation period will be recorded and represented in a final ‘Outcomes of the Consultation Report’ that we expect to be considered by Council in January 2024. The report will be published three weeks in advance of the Council meeting and parents of pupils attending the affected school and anyone who has responded to the consultation will be notified of its publication.
