Between 13 February and 14 April 2023 we conducted a survey to help us understand your views on Portobello town centre and the local area. We also ran workshops and engaged with community groups over the last few months.
Thank you to those of you who gave us your views. Read more about what you've told us so far on our website.
There will be further opportunities for the community to continue to shape the project as plans for the area are developed over the coming months.
We are seeking your views on the streets, public spaces and local facilities that exist in Portobello town centre and the local area. Do they look and function as well as you would like?
This project is part of the City of Edinburgh Council’s 20-minute neighbourhood strategy which is looking to provide better access to local facilities and open spaces across the city.
The 20-minute neighbourhood approach enables everyone to be able to access services and meet most of their daily needs within a short walk, wheel* or cycle from their home.
We would welcome comments focusing on the following area: the town centre and local area from King’s Road in the north; Baileyfield Road in the west; Milton Road East in the south; and up to and including the Promenade and coastline.
* Wheeling refers to people using a mobility scooter, wheelchair, or other wheeled mobility aid, as well as people walking with pushchairs and prams.
This questionnaire aims to:
The survey is an opportunity for people to give their views and ideas. It will inform the development of an initial plan for how the town centre and local area could be improved, from which the Council will continue to work with the local community and businesses as this develops.
