Queensferry: Builyeon Road new primary school and improved active travel connections

Closes 10 Oct 2025

Opened 28 Aug 2025

Overview

In September 2023, we asked people to give us their views on building a new primary and nursery school within the Builyeon Road development site in Queensferry. People were in favour of a new school and the prefered option was approved by Councillors in February 2024. Both the original consultation paper and the outcomes report can be found in links in the Related Documents section below.

Alongside the new school proposals we are working to create more travel options for your daily trips to school and work as well as other trips in your local community. In summer 2022, we asked for your opinions on an early design for a new walking, wheeling and cycling route from Builyeon Road to Scotstoun Avenue. Your feedback helped us to further develop our designs for active travel, including more detail on the proposed park on Builyeon Road.

Improvements across the town will include:

  • Builyeon Road - provision of a new linear park and active travel route with connections to the new primary school

  • Echline interchange - improvements to help pedestrians and people on bikes cross this busy junction

  • Ferry Muir Road - new and improved pedestrian crossing points and protected cycle tracks

  • Scotstoun Avenue - traffic calming, new pedestrian crossing points and protected cycle tracks

  • Viewforth Road and Incholm Terrace - improvements for pedestrians around these areas

Why your views matter

There is a growing population in Queensferry and we need to expand the number of school places to meet demand. Doing nothing is not an option, and investment is required. The new primary school at Builyeon Road will be a community resource for both children and adults. We are interested to know how different areas of the school and site could be used by all members of the public.

These proposals will complement our Queensferry Living Well Locally project to help make Queensferry greener, healthier and safer for everyone. The changes will provide new primary school places and more travel options for daily trips to school and work as well as making access to local amenities easier and safer.

We would encourage you to complete our surveys to give us feedback. You can view proposals and provide feedback on either the new primary school, the new active travel and park proposals, or both.

Data will be handled in accordance with the General Data Protection Regulations that came into effect in May 2018. Data related to this survey is anonymised and will be used solely for the purpose of appraising the developed design.

Thank you for taking the time to complete this survey.
