Results Updated 7 Apr 2017

The majority of feedback was supportive or strongly supportive of the proposals, with many people raising that the existing conditions were either unsafe or intimidating for people walking and cycling along and across Grange Road.

Stakeholder organisations generally preferred a zebra crossing at Lover’s Loan and Lauder Road, with a a signalised crossing at Tantallon Place. There was a strong desire to see raised tables at all the crossings to reduce vehicle speeds. At the public exhibition, the majority of consultees did not have a preference for either a signalised or Zebra crossing.

A detailed report on the consultation is attached below. This includes a section on the alterations that we shall make to the design based on the feedback from the consultation.

Overview

This consultation gives people the opportunity to express their views about proposed initial designs for a cycle route and walking improvements at the junctions of Grange Road with Lauder Road, Tantallon Place and Lover's Loan.

The route, called QuietRoute 6, will form part of the QuietRoutes Network that is being implemented across Edinburgh. The aim of the network is to provide routes that are easy, safe and convenient to use by people of any level of cycle experience. It will also improve conditions for people walking.

Why We Are Consulting

The Council needs to understand and consider all the needs and views expressed by people regarding the street re-design.

We will use the comments to develop an optimum design that improves the street for walking and cycling.
